A. Bosio and a. Ballestrero-Teslight Floating Magnetic Lamp

At Design Interviews

Interview with A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero : Tesla magnetic experiments and theories. This is a magnetic-floating lamp. The lamp floats thanks to the attractive power of two magnets. The lamp shape comes from the desire to have the best performance about lightness and distance between the two magnets. Every details is drown to emphatize the floating effect without loosing the first function as a lamp. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero : Every details is drawn to emphatize the floating effect without loosing the first function as a lamp. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero : Sell the lamp around the world. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero : 2 years .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero : this design comes from a free inspiration concept .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero : We are open to sell or lease the production rights (dipends on the offers) but also ready to make it by ourself. .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero : the name of the lamp "TESLIGHT" is inspirated by NiKola Tesla. Tesla is also the SI derived unit of magnetic flux density. .Frank Scott: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?. A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero : We use 3d modeling softwere as Rhino to design the model but also to prepare it for the CNC prototypation. .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. A. Bosio and A. Ballestrero : The floating magnetic system. .
